Neal Maupay Condemns Verbal Abuse from Fans

Everton striker Neal Maupay has criticised fans who verbally abused the team at Euston train station in London, England following their 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 28-year-old French forward, who didn’t feature in the match, was singled out by frustrated supporters and called a “f****** rat” as players boarded the train on Saturday, 24 August.

Maupay, known for his outspokenness, responded by sharing a video of the incident on X, formerly known as Twitter, the following day. In the post, he questioned why such behaviour is tolerated.

The footballer expressed disbelief that it’s “normalised to get abuse like this,” especially when the players are “trying their best.”

The Toffees’ dismal start to the English Premier League (EPL) season, with two consecutive heavy defeats, has left them at the bottom of the log. Manager Sean Dyche acknowledged the team’s struggles but reminded the players that they’ve overcome challenges before.

As the club grapples with both on-field and off-field issues, Everton will next face Doncaster in the English Football League Championship Cup, and Bournemouth in the EPL.
